Dr. Ferris received his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Massachusetts and his doctorate in physiology from New York Medical College. He did his postdoctoral training in neuroendocrinology and peptide chemistry with Drs. Susan Leeman and Robert Carraway at Harvard Medical School. He has thirty-eight years of academic research with over 150 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Ferris pioneered the development of radiofrequency electronics and holders for magnetic resonance imaging in awake animals for use in preclinical drug discovery and the study of neurodegenerative diseases. Formerly a Professor of Psychiatry and Physiology, Director, Center for Comparative Neuroimaging, Department of Psychiatry, University of Massachusetts Medical School, he is presently Professor of Psychology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Director, Center for Translational NeuroImaging, Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts. He has cofounded four companies and has seven issued patents.
