Raymond G Booth (Ray) is a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He is Associate Director of the Northeastern University Center for Drug Discovery where his research group is developing novel serotonin-based pharmacotherapy to treat neuropsychiatric disorders, including, substance use disorders. Guided by computational chemistry and molecular modeling studies, the laboratory undertakes structure-based design and synthesis of new chemical entities, followed by translational studies that include molecular neuropharmacology, pharmacokinetic, and preclinical in vivo behavioral methodologies to evaluate and develop drug candidates. Collaborative studies with Boston-area pharma and venture capital groups are helping to bring forward leads to IND-status for several CNS indications, including, drug-induced psychoses.
